[IBSUniversity, Port Moresby – September 19th 2025]- One IBSUniversity (IBSU) staff two IBS College of TVET (IBSC) staff recently completed the 11 weeks SENISIM PNG Leadership Program. This initiative, a collaboration between the Papua New Guinea Tribal Foundation and the Maxwell Leadership Foundation, aims to instill core values and servant leadership principles across various sectors in Papua New Guinea.

This impactful 11-week program, was facilitated by Ms. Tusitala Golu, a facilitator of the program and a former Quality Assurance trainee at IBSU. She guided participants through interactive learning, including the Transformation Table Discussions and practical exercises. The program’s curriculum focuses on 11 foundational values: Hope, Humility, Integrity, Adding Value, Responsibility, Commitment, Empathy, Purpose, Listening, Attitude, and Discipline. Over the course of the 11 weeks, participants engaged in Transformation Table Discussions, developing personal growth and preparing them to be facilitators and lead by example within their communities.

We would like to congratulate our IBSU staff from the Quality Assurance Department Jubilee Mccarthy Waiya and IBSC Academics Gutuma Gima and Jacobeth Serave – on receiving their certificates as facilitators of the Senisim PNG Program! This is a wonderful achievement and it showcased the dedication and commitment that our three amazing staff members have shown over the past 11 weeks.

Jubilee Mccarthy Waiya, shared his sentiments about the training program, he stated:

“First of all, the SENISIM PNG Program has taught me a lot of and reinforced a lot of things I already believe and try to live by. From the 10 Values of the program, the one that really resonated with me is Value 3: Integrity.

Integrity not only stands out for me personally but professionally as well. As an auditor, one of the principles that is important is my line of work is integrity meaning upholding honesty, diligence and responsibility in every aspect of my work. This can be translated into my personal life as well. One of the readings from this value shared a quote from Greek philosopher Socrates “The first key to greatness is to be in reality what we appear to be”. This kind of reminds me to be honest and true to myself and not live to please others. I also learned in the program that being honest and transparent in all my actions builds trust and respect with others, and it creates a strong foundation for personal and professional growth.

Overall, I’ve learnt a lot from the other 9 values as well and I’d like to thank me fellow participants for always motivating and pushing each other throughout the 11 weeks. I also want to thank the facilitator and everyone who made this program possible, especially Dr. Muthu Prabha.  I’d like to see is more Papua New Guineans taking part in this program and understanding the 10 Values of the program which can help us get rid of issues affecting our society such as Sorcery Accusation-Related Violence (SARV). It was a really good learning experience for me.”

Special note of appreciation to IBSU Management Vice Chancellor Prof. Ramachandran Arunachalam and IBSC Principal Mr. Sagara Wijeratne for their support, Dr. Muthu Prabha Venkitachalam, Head of Student Affairs, and Mr. Gordon Sailas, Head of People and Culture for coordinating this program and Ms. Tusitala Golu for leading the participants throughout the 11 weeks.

By integrating these values into their professional and personal lives, IBSU and IBSC staff are not only enhancing their leadership capabilities but also contributing to a broader movement aimed at societal change.
