In demonstrating its ongoing commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, the IBS College of TVET recently organized a meaningful outreach initiative in support of Callan Services PNG — an Inclusive Education Resource Centre (IERC) dedicated to empowering children with disabilities.

Callan Services PNG plays a vital role in providing inclusive education and community-based rehabilitation services. Through its two key programs — Inclusive Education and Community-Based Rehabilitation — the centre ensures that children with disabilities have access to quality learning opportunities while also supporting their integration into the wider community.

Early This month, students and staff of IBS College of TVET launched a fundraising initiative, collecting essential items such as pencil colours, books, caps, and toiletries to donate to the centre. This initiative reflects the institution’s strong emphasis on compassion, volunteerism, and student-led community impact.

As part of the Community Visitation Program, a group of IBS College of TVET students and staff, led by Mr. Kevin David, visited Callan Services PNG at Gerehu Stage 6 on Tuesday, 5th May 2026. The visit, held between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, provided an opportunity for IBS College students and staff to engage firsthand with the centre’s work and understand the importance of inclusive education.

The visit was coordinated with the support of IBS College of TVET Coordinators, Mr. Paul Andy Kokire and Mr. Was Malu, who emphasized the importance of instilling values of empathy, service, and inclusivity among students.

During the visit, the team presented the donated items to Callan Services, while also interacting with staff and learners at the centre. The experience was both inspiring and humbling, reinforcing the significance of creating inclusive spaces where every individual is given the opportunity to learn and thrive.

IBS College of TVET remains committed to fostering socially responsible graduates who not only pursue academic excellence but also contribute positively to their communities. Initiatives such as this highlight the institution’s dedication to making a meaningful difference beyond the classroom.
