On June 11, 2025, IBS College of TVET held a student-friendly session focused on “The Role of Counselling and Mindfulness in Student Life.” This session was led by Dr. Muthu Prabha Venkitachalam, Head of Student Affairs & Counselling, IBSUniversity.
The session began with a student-led Q&A on counselling services and mental health support. Students were given the chance to ask questions and clear up doubts about what counselling is and how it can help them both personally and academically.

The interactive format helped to create a safe space where students could talk freely. It also helped to normalize conversations about mental health and encouraged everyone to be more supportive of each other on campus.
Dr. Muthu Prabha introduced the students to mindfulness, a practice that helps people stay calm, focused, and aware of their thoughts and feelings. She explained how mindfulness can help students manage stress, stay focused on their studies, and feel more balanced in daily life.

She gave students easy and practical ways to use mindfulness in everyday situations—at school, at home, and even with friends. She emphasized more about how being present in the moment, understanding your feelings, and building emotional strength can help young people succeed in life.
The students acknowledged what they have learnt from the session and they expressed their gratitude to Dr. Muthu Prabha to give her time to provide this valuable information to them.

This session is one of the many extracurricular activities that are provided at IBS College of TVET to develop its students to their full potential—not just academically, but mentally and emotionally.
At IBS College of TVET, we are committed to give our students the tools they need to succeed—in school, at work, and in life.
